Christmas is just around the corner, and nothing quite gets the family excited for the festive period like going to see Santa. Here I have compiled a list of some of the best places to visit Santa in Essex that (at the time of writing) still have availability. Make sure you book your visit in advance to avoid disappointment!
Marsh Farm- The Father Christmas Experience
Where: Marsh Farm, South Woodham Ferrers
When: November 19 – December 24, various time slots
What is included? The experience starts off with collecting your passport for the North Pole before setting off to meet Father Christmas in a magical experience. In 2022 Marsh Farm will also include a real ice-skating rink, festive fun fair and Christmas train ride all included in tickets. Tickets start at £35.
Barleylands Father Christmas Experience
Where: Barleylands, Billericay.
When: Dates from 9th December 2022 through to Christmas Eve. Availability is very limited.
What is included? A friendly elf will greet you when you arrive. Once you have been checked into the Magical Christmas Barn, the elf will take you through to see Mother Christmas. Here you will be able to make a Christmas Tree Decoration, that you can take home. Once you’ve had your family photography in the Winter Walkway it’s off to see Santa in his grotto. Afterwards it’s off to the toy factory to choose a present before popping to the Christmas Kitchen to decorate gingerbread men. Tickets start at £25 for children.
The Magic of Christmas at Colchester Zoo
Where: Colchester Zoo, Colchester
When: November 26 and 27, December 17th to 22nd
What is included? Journey through the magical Santa Experience filled with festive scenery and cheeky elves, where you will also have the chance to meet the Santa himself and take home your very own ‘Poco the sloth’ soft toy. There will also be lots of other Christmas activities at the zoo. Tickets start at £12.50 per ticket (not including zoo admission)
Santa Specials at Colne Valley Railway
Where: Colne Valley Railway, Castle Hedingham
When: 3rd-24th December
What is included? You will meet Santa in his grotto before travelling on the diesel train to collect your present from Santa’s Toy Shop. Other activities include an interactive model railway, museum, signal box visits and woodland walk. Tickets start at £8.
Wonderland at Adventure Island, Southend
Where: Adventure Island, Sunken Garden, Southend
When:17th to 24th December
What is included? Children can meet Santa at Adventure Island this Christmas and get their own toy from him and each child can have one adult go with them for free. They also get a voucher for the Sealife Zooquarium, a free round of golf, a free meal at Sands by the Sea with a paying adult and £5 worth of free video games at the Funtopia Arcade. Tickets start at £20
