When families are looking for an outdoor family photographer it is important to make sure they feel comfortable with them. Lets be honest being out in the open for a photo shoot will not appeal to every one. However the end result can be one that takes your breath away.

Meet Florence

Florence loves to hunt for insects. She will spend hours looking around her garden at home or nursery looking for insects. She is an inquisitive child who always want to find out more information and ask questions. Her favourite programme is paw patrol. She recently became a big sister, a duty which she takes extremely serious when looking after her sister Betsy.

The Shoot

Before every shoot, I organise a consultation with the family or individual to discuss how the session will go. As an outdoor family photographer it is important that I scout for great locations. In Chelmsford there are many beautiful locations, many of which as beautiful gems! Florence’s mum explained that she loves to play at parks and open spaces. I managed to find a view beautiful fields offering open spaces. Florence was in her element and was totally relaxed exploring the fields and using her imagination.

During all of my outdoor family photography shoots I aim to get a balance of posed and natural shoots. This worked very well for Florence’s shoot especially. I was able to get her to concentrate for a few shoots. Then I allowed her to go off and explore, she even hunt for fishes in the river. Working with families and young children in this way means children are less likely to loose concentration and the session becomes great fun.
